Valley of Peace Mission Trip

Wednesday, June 06, 2007

We had the students go and clean up the Valley of Peace park. It was terribly dirty but with everyone pitching in it didn't take long and they did a great job.

We just love these guys! We'll miss all our friends here when we go home. Patricia and Jose are great people.
Janice is a dear friend of ours also who we'll miss a great deal. We're going to keep in touch and hopefully be able to see each other again.
Having fun with friends.

Our local church family.
Popcorn time with friends!
A birthday pinata party was fun. The girls were invited and had a good time.
This little girl was so cute! The pinata was almost as big as her!

We had a special Parent Appreciation Night for the students to thank their parents for the support for their education.
These girls each gave a great presentation up front. The students made thank you cards for the parents, gave out a flower to each, and served them all dinner.
It turned out to be a great evening.

The parents had fun playing some games also. Everyone was laughing and having a good time with each other.
This game was hilarious! All the men had to leave the room and their wives all took off their shoes and put them in a pile on the floor. Then the husbands came back in and had to find their wives shoes from the pile and return them to the rightful owner! It pays to be observant men!!
The students had the new building looking nice for their parents.

Say hello to our new little babies! Tinypaw and Fluffball.
We'll be leaving them with a friend of ours when we go. The girls have really enjoyed the cats and now especially with this added bonus. Our two cats really worked hard here catching rats and mice!! We needed them.

Once again Spotty thinks he's a daddy! He's very protective. If the kittens squeek at all he's right there licking them and making sure that they are ok. It is really funny to watch him with them.

We took one last trip to Caye Caulker off the coast of Belize for Leah's birthday. The girls found this wonderful rope swing and had a great time on it with some island kids.
Eight years old!! Boy that went fast!
She was thrilled with her orange gifts.
This little fellow was an expert at tricks on the rope swing.

Isn't this the cutest little guy!!! They are all over. The ceiling and high roof beams are the favorite spot for these little bug eaters.
For teachers day the staff went to Barton Creek to a river cave that you can canoe into. It was a beautiful spot and they had a great time.

The students are learning to take proper care of the school and grounds and we hope that by doing this it will become a habit to make their homes and their village look beautiful.

Sewing class is a real hit with the students. If there had been more machines, more girls, and even some boys would have taken it.
Maggie is doing a great job getting the girls into making a number of different projects.
